Alfons Walde (1891-1958) is a painter of international renown. His snowy landscapes and winter sports scenes are equally cherished and sought after and helped shape the image of Tyrol – and especially Kitzbühel – as a fashionable mecca for alpine sports lovers. However, Walde’s passion for photography, which he discovered prior to WWI, has remained a little known fact. From 15th February to 23rd May 2015 Kitzbühel Museum Alfons Walde Collection provides insight into the artist’s photographic archive, which focuses on the female nude.
